The Taking of Pelham 123 [2009]

IMDB

Gist: The story is simple and plain straight. Armed men hijack a New York City subway train, holding the passengers hostage in return for a ransom, and turning an ordinary day’s work for dispatcher Walter Garber into a face-off with the mastermind behind the crime.

My Thoughts: This movie is one among those “One Act” films, like Phonebooth, Vantage Point etc. If I compare it with Phonebooth, I liked Phonebooth better. Phonebooth was more interesting, more suspense, and you never knew who the villain was. Here, John Travolta plays a selfish, twisted villain… again, simply awesome! The movie is surely a nice watch. I regret for not watching it in the theatre. The movie starts off with the train hijack itself, during the credit openings. The pace of the film is just perfect! Simple, Straight, Crisp! Yes, but I did notice something in the film. There are certain instances in the movie, which some may say is totally realistic, and some may just go “What Nonsense!!!” I did not how to react 😐

The one thing that stole my complete attention, is Denzel Washington’s character, Mr. Walter Garber. Now Mr. Garber, defines what a true hero should be… not only in reel life, but in reality too. If we all have 50% of what Mr. Garber has, this world would be a million times better! Watch it, if not for anything, you’ll surely love Mr. Garber… and even Ryder (John Trvolta). And uh… yep! You guessed it right! Mr. Walter Garber makes it to my Top 25 Favourite Characters ever! So there’s one more spot empty for the 25th place! You think it will be Beira (Raavan)?? I’ll wait and WATCH 🙂

My Rating: 8/10
